Care & cost guide

Understand the care.
Make room for your questions.

Cost of a care plan

Ask for the whole bill.

Put the medicine, visits and any tests on the same page before comparing prices.

A quote needs more than the medicine line.

The medicine

Request the exact product, the amount supplied and the price after any offer ends.

Clarify the product

Different price labels answer different questions.

As of September 26, 2026, list prices, cash offers, discount-card prices, insured costs and government-program costs describe different ways of paying.

List price
The maker’s published price; ask for what you would actually pay.
Cash price
A price paid outside your insurance.
Insured cost
Your share after your plan applies its terms.

As of September 26, 2026, paying through the maker’s cash offer adds nothing to either your insurance deductible or the yearly cap on your own payments.

The deductible is the amount you pay before coverage begins under your plan’s terms. The yearly cap limits what you pay yourself for covered care; it is not a limit on what insurance pays.

Cash payments outside insurance do not bring you closer to either limit. Ask your plan which costs count.

Read the offer

A cash offer can change after the start.

As of September 26, 2026, the government price page listed a $199 cash offer for semaglutide (Wegovy pen).

A medicine’s strength means the amount of active drug in the product.

The Wegovy pen offer is $199 for each of a new patient’s first two monthly supplies. Only pens in strengths of 0.25 mg or 0.5 mg qualify; the offer runs through December 31, 2026.

These strengths identify the products in the price offer. Ask the person treating you which product, if any, fits your needs.

After the offer, standard Wegovy pens were $349 per month.

This example leaves out the higher-strength pen and any charge for care or tests.

The offer’s end date is a reason to check its terms again, not a promise of what comes next.

Compare with the coverage route

Ask for the ongoing total.

Use this wording: What would I pay once the opening offer is over, including the medicine and the care?

  • Ask when a membership begins and how it ends.
  • Ask whether a visit is still charged if no medicine is prescribed.
  • Ask which tests are proposed and who would bill for them.
  • Ask what happens to prepaid fees if the plan changes.

For an in-person visit, add your own travel and time-off-work costs to the comparison. For online care, ask how any needed in-person visit would be arranged.
